Scarecrows come out in force in Tarrytown each October. Look for a mob of them in Patriots Park, individuals lurking beside lamp posts along Broadway and Main Street, and hundreds upon hundreds invading the grounds of the gothic mansion Lyndhurst. Scarecrows also show up here and there in Sleepy Hollow. There’s usually a giant Tim-Burtonesque scarecrow greeting motorists at the intersection of Beekman Avenue and Route 9, and a few really scary Jack O’ Lantern scarecrows lurking about Horseman’s Hollow.
